   Review of: Saponificio Varesino Cubebe Shave Soap / Aftershave / Eau de Parfum

   Initial Thoughts: (5.0/5.0)
   This is the newest offering from Saponificio Varesino, and the 1st with a complete line including and Eau de Parfum. It is also their newest Beta formula of 4.3 with Monoi de Tahiti which is a plant extract that helps in soothing and moisturizing properties. Initial “sniff test” is fantastic it opens with bergamot, lemon and white fir, followed in the middle by Pepper and nutmeg, and finishes with Amber, Patchouli, Vetiver, Labdanum, benzoin, and Incense

   Latherability (5.0/5.0)
   With the addition of the MdT it does appear that this lathers better than previous version (which is hard to believe) since latherability for SV soaps is legendary to begin with. After a thin veil of hot water on the puck only a 15 second load is required for a smooth, slick, voluminous amount of lather.

   On the Face: (5.0/5.0)
   Similar, but better, than other formulas this brings to bring your skin alive. Almost cooling on the face, you can immediately tell your skin and face welcome this, and the healing properties it offers. The best yet of all SV Soaps, Very shiny, slick, and pillowy. A tad bit of water should be added for face lathering.

   Stability: (5.0/5.0)
   As are all SV soaps stability is not an issue, however this particular beta formula does not even hint at that this soap could be broken. Fantastic!

   Glide / Slickness: (5.0/5.0)
   Unbelievable! Of all the SV soaps this one by a pretty large margin increases the glide and slickness of a straight razor shave, as well as DE. It almost feels as if you are not touching the face at all and no hint of dryness and it is ice slick while shaving with everything gliding across the face. No tugs or even a hint during the entire shave. Also post pass slickness is unreal. Technically you could finish the shave with Just water, it is that slick!
   Fragrance: ( 5.0/5.0 )
   Traditionally, SV scents have been light off the puck and remain. Cubebe does not do that and you can experience the Top, middle and bottom fragrance notes during the shave. On the SOS scale I rate it a 3.0 however the complexity on how the fragrance presents itself during the shave gives it the higher rating.

   Post Shave: ( 5.0 / 5.0 )
   In this author’s opinion the 70th Anniversary has always held the top spot in this category. Largely due to the “skin alive” feeling it provides. Cubebe has now taken that top spot away. With the aftershave and EdP the post shave feel of the face is as good as it can get

   Of all the reviews of various soaps, this is the 1st perfect score. It should be noted that this was rated as a system. Although the review was primarily of the soap, the “System” of having the soap, aftershave and now the Eau de Parfum, make this a perfect shave. Saponificio Varesino, yet again has outdone themselves in providing shave products, all this while keeping it natural and being aware of the environment ( no palm oils ) and using natural products to ensure the best health for the skin as well
   SUPPLEMENTAL:
   The Cubebe Aftershave is also a perfect performer, the fragrance is strong and the face feel is tremendous in healing the assault on the skin from shaving. Although, the soap begins the process for the aftershave to ride on. Even hours after the shave the face feels smooth hydrated and refreshed. A note of caution however, less is more, as this is highly concentrated and those with oily skin will need to be careful in using too much. In warmer climates this can be exacerbated with having an oily face at the end of the day. Three drops is plenty.
   The Cubebe Eau de Parfum : For its 1st attempt at a men’s fragrance, Saponificio Varesino appears to be an expert. It is strong, the fragrance notes are blended perfectly and the transition from top to middle to base is a wonderful journey. I would put this and the fragrance including silage, longevity, scent strength and face and body feel to the likes of Penhaligon’s Zoologist, Chanel, Acqua di Parma, and Creed in it quality of fragrance, packaging, presentation and pricing. Although it is a HUGE value for the money at about $80USD for 100ml, and makes it one of the least expensive and reachable for most folks. SV indicated that we will see EdP’s for all the current shave products, which indeed is extremely exciting. We cannot wait.
